from the vineyard...
The plots formerly used for grazing were selected for the establishment of the vineyard in 2019 and 2020.
We preserved as many trees as possible to maintain the biodiversity that thrives at Le Barretian.
The existing terraces were retained, and rocky ridges were bypassed.
The vines thrive among cistus, rosemary, and thyme.
It is in this exceptional natural environment that our vines, bathed in sunlight, soak up this golden light, imparting to our grapes all their power. We cultivate our vines with respect for this nature by maintaining permanent vegetation cover and without any non-organic inputs. We are committed to preserving the life of our soils, so we sow green manure and spread sheep manure.
The young vines are pruned by us, respecting the plant's physiology.
Thorough shoot thinning allows for the regulation of the potential yield of the vines.
Harvesting takes place early in the morning, in the coolness. Our grape harvest is carried out meticulously, each carefully selected bunch is handpicked. We pay special attention to every detail, aiming to preserve the integrity of the fruit and obtain grapes of the highest quality.
...to the cellar
Our wines are aged without any additives. They are made from grapes that we select and harvest by hand.
The grapes intended for white wine, in whole bunches, are pressed directly after harvesting. They are left to cool overnight, then settling is carried out before fermentation.
Those intended for red wine are destemmed and then placed in vats for maceration. During alcoholic fermentation, the grains will be regularly resuspended in their juice in order to extract the color (pigeage).
After devatting, all our reds undergo malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats, oak barrels or stoneware amphorae.
The evolution of the juice is regularly monitored until we obtain the wine we are looking for from what nature has given us.
The carbon dioxide resulting from natural fermentation plays a protective role. It manifests itself by a slight effervescence called "pearling" which can appear upon opening and therefore naturally protects the juice.
This is not a flaw!
We recommend decanting our wines before serving.

Its deep red robe with violet highlights, along with aromas and notes of ripe cherry and fig, transport you to the vineyards of Provence, where, under a gentle breeze at sunset, you bite into a full cluster of juicy, melt-in-the-mouth black grapes.

sangiovese 2024
This second vintage of Sangiovese at Barretian also comes from the Restanques plot.
Although Sangiovese is typically associated with Italy or Corsica, we chose to introduce it here to offer a unique tasting experience. The selection of this Provençal terroir is no accident: its complex, limestone and stony soils, the generous Mediterranean sun, and the gentle influence of the Provençal winds give our vines a singular character. It is here, nestled between centuries-old olive trees and paths lined with everlasting flowers, that this Sangiovese finds its balance and fully reveals its potential.
This 100% Sangiovese 2024, with its carmine-red hue and pink highlights, announces freshness with notes of summer red fruits. A lively attack, a light and dynamic structure with soft tannins, leaves a fruity finish that pairs beautifully with an aperitif or a sunlit lunch.
